Is It Okay to Wear a Panty Liner Every Day?
It’s fine, but… Many women do this without any problem. However, wearing panty liners every day can sometimes lead to contact dermatitis and irritation caused by the products used to make them, especially perfumes, cellulose fibres (cotton, viscose), synthetic fibres, and plastic materials. Also, when there are more significant bladder leaks or lots of vaginal discharge, these hygiene products keep moisture near the genitals, explains Dr. Laurence Simard-Émond, a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. This moist environment can lead to various problems, such as fungal infections and chapping. You therefore need to be vigilant. As soon as there is any itching or burning, stop wearing them.
“To avoid infections and skin irritations, it’s important to stay as dry as possible,” Simard-Émond notes. “I suggest bringing a few pairs of panties in your purse and changing when needed.”
