Your Poetry

Your Poem of the Month

A popular feature in Good Times magazine is the Poetry page, where we showcase works written and submitted by our readers. Jean Kuglin’s “Summer’s Here!” appeared in the Summer 2022 issue.

Summer’s Here!

Summer weather is here at last,

Nature’s wonders coming fast.

Flocks of birds are flying around,

Seeking worms and bugs in the ground.

The little wren, as cute as can be,

Sings her songs for you and me.

Now the busy wee bees

In the flowering trees

Are buzzing around,

Gathering nectar where it can be found.

A black, orange, and yellow butterfly

Alights in the purple bush nearby.

There are little white daisies

Out in the green grass,

With lots of dandelions,

As long as they last.

Some of our days

Are warm and bright,

With lots of sun

From morning till night.

Now we can go out

And see all these things,

And wish that we had little wings.

Yes, we’re happy to be here,

With only the virus for us to fear.
