Healthy Holiday Feasting

By Isabelle Huot

Overeating can affect sleep and interfere with energy levels. Here’s how to celebrate wisely:

• Follow an alcoholic drink with a glass of water to reduce the likelihood of headaches caused by dehydration and to help you drink in moderation.

• To avoid arriving at a party ravenous and then overeating, be sure to eat enough during the day, focusing on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean sources of protein such as tofu and legumes.

• Have just one helping. If you’re still hungry 30 minutes after eating, have another small portion…or save that room for dessert.

Happy holidays!
